'Road' trip booked

Cooper finds shelter at Fortress

Chris Cooper is starring in "The Road Back" by scribe Matthew McDuffie for Fortress Entertainment.

Pic is the story of a man dealing with the breakdown of his marriage and an increasingly icy family relationship in the wake of the suicide of his daughter, an Iraq war veteran.

Fortress' Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti are producing.

Cooper recently wrapped Universal's "Jarhead," starring Jake Gyllenhaal and produced by Red Wagon's Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. He's also starring in the upcoming MGM/Sony pic "Capote," in which Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the legendary scribe Truman Capote.

Fortress is partnering with Liberty Films on "Franco," based on the life of Franco Magnani, the subject of Oliver Sack's book "An Anthropologist on Mars." Shingle also is teaming with Basil Iwanyk and his Thunder Road banner to produce "Bull," based on the true stories of bullfighters, and with Jonathan Sanger on a film about the mysterious disappearance of Edgar Allan Poe.
