Director Jim Sheridan's next project after "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " will be the Irish mafia pic "Emerald City," which Radar Pictures and Relevant Entertainment are producing.

Pic, inspired by true events, is a look into the world of Irish organized crime in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City.

Lukas Reiter, a former Queens assistant district attorney and a writer-producer on ABC's "Boston Legal" and "The Practice," is penning the script.

Project was hatched by Radar and Reiter. Then Relevant Entertainment's Mike Menchel, who has a long-standing relationship with Sheridan, proposed the pic to the "In America" filmmaker and got him aboard.

Radar founder Ted Field is producing the pic with Menchel. Joe Rosenberg and Mike Weber oversee for Radar.

Radar is in production on Sony's fantasy adventure pic "Zathura," based on the children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. Company also is producing DreamWorks' remake of "The Heartbreak Kid," which Bobby and Peter Farrelly are directing.

Management and production shingle Relevant manages Sheridan's daughter, Naomi Sheridan, who co-wrote Fox Searchlight's Oscar-nommed pic "In America" with her father and sister Kirsten Sheridan. Shingle also is producing "Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities," based on the expose book by Alexandra Robbins, for Paramount.

Sheridan is currently filming "Get Rich," Paramount and MTV's urban, rags-to-riches story starring 50 Cent. He's also attached to direct DreamWorks' remake of the 1952 Akira Kurosawa film "Ikiru."
