Par conjures remake spell

Pogue sells 'Malefique' pitch

John Pogue has sold a pitch for a remake of French horror pic "Malefique" to Paramount for producer Neal Moritz.

Story concerns an eclectic group of four inmates sharing one prison cell. When they find a book of occult spells, they try to use its shaky magic to escape, but things don't go as planned.

Original's Moritz and Ori Marmur are producing.

Par's Brad Weston and Matt Jackson oversee the project.

Pogue's projects include Sony's "Man With a Football," which Moritz is producing and Paul Anderson is attached to direct, and actioner "Delilah," also set up at Sony.

Moritz produced Sony's upcoming actioner "Stealth," directed by Rob Cohen. He's currently in production on Sony's "Grid Iron Gang," starring Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.
