NEW YORK -- Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser will topline "The Last Time" for Element Films and tyro helmer Michael Caleo.
Story follows a cynical salesman (Keaton) who rediscovers a passion for life after falling in love with the fiancee of his new business partner (Fraser), a Midwest transplant learning the ropes in Gotham.
Pic, skedded to lense in August in Gotham and New Orleans, marks the sixth feature effort for Element, headed by CEO-founder Sam Nazarian.
Element's Adam Rosenfelt and Stavros Merjos will produce, along with Peter Samuelson and Jeff Balis. Nazarian is exec producing.
Pic is backed by LA Squared, a Louisiana-based film fund that has been created by Element, along with the Louisiana Institute of Film & Technology and the Louisiana Economic Development Corp.
Caleo, who has served a staff scribe for "The Sopranos" and "Rescue Me," makes his feature debut on the project.
Keaton can be seen in Disney's "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and starred in Universal's "White Noise" earlier this year.
Fraser just signed on to Millennium Films' "Journey to the End of the Night," which shoots in September.
Element's "Down in the Valley" recently preemed in Cannes as part of the fest's Un Certain Regard section.
