German films did well at the local box office in the first six months of the year despite a considerable drop in ticket sales overall.
According to research institute Nielsen EDI, local pics attracted 9.5 million viewers, 11% more than in the first half of 2004; the total number of viewers fell by 17% to 58 million.
Locally produced kidpics were especially successful. Adult movies that scored well include Jewish comedy "Alles auf Zucker," which picked up 10 nominations for the German Film Awards, the winners of which will be announced today.
