Loyola Marymount U. School of Film and Television has opened an office of external affairs, tapping producer-manager Peter Heller as its director of external affairs and development.

In addition, Kathleen McInnis, director of the recent Slamdance Film Festival, will serve as the school's inaugural film festival specialist.

Hirings are part of SFTV dean Teri Schwartz's efforts to expand the school's media presence globally and on the festival circuit.

Heller was previously head of production-management shingle Heller Highwater, producing "Like Mike" for 20th Century Fox and "Brown Sugar" for Fox Searchlight.

McInnis spent 12 years at the Seattle Film Festival, serving as lead film programmer, director of industry programming and director of publicity/promotion.
