Sony develops reality exec

Hardy will work in syndie/reality division

Former "Bachelor" and "Big Brother" producer Kerry Schmidt Hardy has been tapped VP of development at Sony Pictures Television.

Hardy will work in the studio's syndie/reality division, developing programming for both genres. She'll report to Melanie Chilek, senior VP of development and syndie programming.

Chilek said Hardy's "hands-on experience in a variety of reality programs" makes her well qualified for the post as well as a "tremendous asset" to the studio.

Hardy most recently worked as a senior producer for Mike Fleiss' Telepictures-based Next Entertainment, working on various incarnations of the "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" franchises. She also worked for Shapiro/Grodner on the second and third seasons of "Big Brother."

Exec's syndie experience includes "The Roseanne Show" and "Dennis Prager," as well as stints on "Access Hollywood" and "Inside Edition."
