Pic, whose title translates as "hot chilli sauce," is a $3 million foodie drama which lenses in early 2006. It is produced by Five Star Production Co, one of the longest-standing Thai shingles.
The co-venture is an extension of the foray into Asia being made by EuropaCorp, which is controlled by helmer Luc Besson and business partner Pierre-Ange Le Pogam. Earlier this year the outfit picked up foreign sales rights outside Asia to Sasanatieng's most recent film, sentimental comedy "Citizen Dog." It has also handled extra-Asian sales of hit martial arts actioner "Ong-Bak," by Thai helmer Prachya Pinkaew. "Nam Prix" is EuropaCorp's first production in Thailand.
The company, which enjoyed boffo success with Japanese-themed comedy-actioner "Wasabi" is also developing other Asian titles through its Tokyo-based subsid EuropaCorp Japan.
