Clearing the way for the edition, Pedro and Agustin Almodovar's El Deseo production company has underwritten a capital increase at Cameo, giving them a 14% stake in Spain's leading artpic DVD distrib.
"Bad Education" will be the first Pedro Almodovar collector's release from Cameo this year. Extras will include outtakes from the film.
Cameo also will handle the domestic DVD distribution of other El Deseo productions, such as Argentinian Lucrecia Martel's "The Holy Girl" and Chilean Andres Wood's "Loco Fever." Distrib house also has rights to Almodovar's upcoming "Volver."
To complete the collector's edition, El Deseo is buying back DVD rights for its films.
Launched in 2003, Cameo is a joint venture of specialty title producers and distribs in Spain. Its shareholders, all now holding an equal stake, are Alta Films, Wanda Vision, Tornasol Films, Continental Prods., Golem and G.M. Juan Carlos Tous.
