World Brief

The Polish Senate has approved a bill to help the country's film biz.

The measure creates a film institute and new sources of financing for local pics. Exhibs, home entertainment distributors, private broadcasters, digital platform operators and cable TV operatorswould have to give 1.5% of their revenues to a funding pool. It would make public television allocate not less than 1.5% of revenue from the TV license to film producing.

Bill is expected to be signed by the president in a few weeks.
