Lions Gate will distrib the indie pic, a ripped-from-the-headlines tale of three Texas college seniors whose graduation trip to a Mexican border town turns into a nightmare when they run into an ancient human-sacrifice cult.
Berman, who also directed "Plain Dirty" for Moews' Tonic Films, penned the "Borderland" script with Eric Poppen.
Moews is producing the pic under the Tonic Films shingle along with Randall Emmett and George Furla's Emmett/Furla Films, Freedom Films and Elisa Salinas of Tau Prods.
Brian Presley, Rider Strong and Jake Muxworthy star.
Lions Gate prexy of acquisitions and co-productions Peter Block, international prexy Nick Meyer and senior VP of acquisitions Jason Constantine oversee the project.
Horror-themed "Cabin Fever," distributed by Lions Gate, grossed more than $34 million worldwide. Production costs were $1.5 million.
