The four-page section will cover music, food and wine, real estate, automobiles, shopping, travel, weekend getaways and other entertainment activities in the Los Angeles area.
"The considerable success of VLife, the monthly magazine published by Variety, has prompted us to extend the brand into the arena of lifestyle activities," said Peter Bart, editor-in-chief of Daily Variety.
Editor of the new VLife Weekend will be Dana Harris, Bart said. For the past five years, she has been a film reporter at Daily Variety. Before that, she served stints at several magazines as a restaurant critic and general feature writer and has provided on-air commentaries for NPR and the BBC.
"We believe readers of Daily Variety will come to regard VLife Weekend as an important and entertaining resource in determining their leisure time activities," said Charlie Koones, president and publisher of Daily Variety.
