Discovery ups exec

Tom Keaveny is to become executive veep and m.d., Discovery Networks Asia, effective July 1. He succeeds Neville Meijers, who becomes Discovery Communication's exec veep for strategy, based at the company's HQ in Silver Spring, Md.

Keaveny returns to Asia following stint as Miami-based senior VP, sales and revenue, for Discovery Network's Latin America region. Before that, he was Discovery Networks Asia's senior VP, sales and revenue, previously with Discovery in Europe and Eurosport.

"The Asia Pacific Rim business is an important component of Discovery Network's growth strategy, and Tom's experience working in our other regions and senior stature in the division make him uniquely suited to assume this important leadership position," said Dawn L. McCall, Discovery Networks Intl. prexy.

Discovery Networks Asia operates seven networks in 23 countries, reaching 280 million cumulative subscribers. Headquartered in Singapore, the region also has offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Taipei, Beijing and Shanghai. The company has 200 employees in the region.
