At MGM, Paquette was a vice president of production who supervised "Barbershop" and its sequel, as well as the Frankie Muniz starrer "Agent Cody Banks." He was also involved in steering the "Cody Banks" sequel as well as "Walking Tall," the remake that starred the Rock.
Paquette previously had been senior veep at Phoenix Pictures, where he worked on "Urban Legend," "The Sixth Day" and "Holes." He began his career as a broadcast associate for CBS Sports and later was an associate producer at CBS News.
"Eric's that rare combination of a smart, well-respected and proven film exec who is well liked around town," Culpepper said. "We're glad to have him join our team."
Hire comes as Screen Gems prepares to release a batch of films that include "The Cave," "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," "When a Stranger Calls" and the sequel "Underworld: Evolution."
