His company Talpa announced the name April 20, but two days later SBS Broadcasting's Dutch arm said its soon-to-be-launched digital channel would be called TV10, which it had trademarked some time ago, and filed suit for trademark infringement.
Talpa now has two weeks to find a new moniker. After that time, Talpa will be fined E50,000 ($61,000) per day if it continues to use the name.
De Mol's spokesman Thomas Notermans said Talpa would appeal -- but also would come up with a new moniker before the August launch of the programming block on the Dutch Nickelodeon channel.
Notermans claimed that, after the judgment, SBS offered to sell the name for $6 million. Talpa nixed SBS' offer.
SBS Broadcasting could not be reached for comment.
