'Silver' proves mettle

Scribes Northrup, Eavelyn catch break in trades ad

NEW YORK -- Vine Entertainment has picked up the script "Silver" by tyro scribes Chrisanna Northrup and Halle Eavelyn, after the duo took out an ad in the trades plugging the screenplay. Filming is skedded to begin in San Diego and Mexico in November.

Script, inspired by Northrup's own horrific experiences with a nanny, intertwines three storylines and focuses on loopholes in the U.S legal system that leave a family exposed and a criminal at large. Thriller follows a mother fighting for her family in the wake of a sex scandal, kidnapping and murder.

A promotional plug for the pic ran in the trades the day after this year's Academy Awards. It read: "True Dramatic Thriller -- she's sweet, she's beautiful, she's a conniving murderer, and she's watching your children."

"I was told that we were crazy taking out an ad, but I knew this was a movie that had to be made," Northrup said.

Vine Entertainment was formed last year by Gino Cabanas. Company is also producing "Taking Charge," a drama about a spoiled young woman who takes matters into her own hands when she's cut off from her billionaire father. Pic stars Amanda Brooks and Patricia Rae.
