Fox is charging into the newsradio business and recently inked a deal with Clear Channel to provide its news and talk stations with a five-minute news feed at the top of the hour, a one-minute at the bottom of the hour, up to six hourly Fox News Alerts and live anchored coverage of breaking news events.
Fledgling network has inked 300 affiliate agreements so far, mounting a strong challenge to ABC and CBS, which dominate the radio news biz.
"Our biggest selling point is fair and balanced news, which most of the audience has been clamoring for," said Fox News Radio senior VP Kevin Magee.
Ailes predicted the network would have 500 affiliates -- including close to 200 Clear Channel affils -- at the end of the summer.
The network will use Fox TV personalities as radio hosts; Fox News Channel anchor Laurie Dhue read the network's first broadcast.
