Warners feels the 'Pain'

WB gains spec from tyro

Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired comedy spec "No Pain No Gain" from tyro feature scribe Steve Pepoon.

John Jacobs ("Anger Management") will produce the pic, in which a SWAT team's top cop -- who is incapable of feeling emotional or physical pain and is thereby revered for his fearlessness -- undergoes surgery that will allow him to feel everything he's missed in life.

Warners production execs Greg Silverman and Geoff Shaevitz oversee the project for the studio.

Jacobs will produce through his Smart Entertainment shingle. Smart development exec Bard Dorros will serve as associate producer.

Pepoon has been a writer for "The Simpsons" and "Roseanne."

Smart recently set up Craig and Jeff Cox's feature spec "Blades of Glory" at DreamWorks with Ben Stiller's Red Hour. Jacobs also set up David Dorfman's comedy pitch "Man Scout" at New Line Cinema. Latter will be produced by Jacobs and exec produced by Smart executive Colin O'Reilly.

Jacobs recently produced Fox Searchlight's "The Ringer" with Conundrum Entertainment. Johnny Knoxville stars.
