James having a ‘Field’ day

'King' thesp also skedded for lead voice in 'Barnyard'

Kevin James will star in Disney's "Field Trip," a comedy Neal Moritz will produce via his Original Film shingle.

James has starred in CBS' "King of Queens" for seven years and recently starred in the Will Smith romantic comedy hit "Hitch."

James and Moritz came up with a pitch for a comedy based on a pre-existing project at Disney.

James will play a substitute teacher who manages an unruly sixth grade class on its annual field trip. Studio will set a writer shortly.

James also provided the lead voice for "The Barnyard," an animated feature directed by Steve Oedekerk for Paramount and Nickelodeon.
