NEW YORK -- The New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theater & Broadcasting has entered into a multitiered sponsorship pact with the Tribeca Film Festival. Mayor's office is using the initiative to push the city's recently passed tax breaks for Gotham-based films and TV shows.

Under the agreement, the mayor's office will lend its name to the Made in NY award, which will honor Tribeca's top feature in the NY, NY category. The section highlights pics with Gotham ties and themes.

Winner of the award will win $5,000.

The mayor's office also will partner with the fest to host a producers reception on April 28. Tribeca fest runs April 19-May 1.

Gotham commish Katherine Oliver is slated to speak at a special event for NY, NY filmmakers April 20, and the city will give space in 60 of its bus shelters to ads saluting Tribeca and its impact on Gotham.

Last summer, Mayor Michael Bloomberg launched the "Made in NY" program, which gives incentives to films and TV shows that complete 75% of their shoots in Gotham. He further signed into law earlier this year a plan that gives a 5% tax credit on below-the-line productions for qualifying shoots.
