Studio literary editor Lillian Gruss died April 11 in Los Angeles of natural causes. She was 89.

A native of Chicago, Gruss left her job as book editor of the Chicago Sun Times in the 1950s to work as a literary editor for 20th Century Fox before joining MGM, where she remained for more than 25 years.

She worked with screenwriters and producers including Delbart Mann, Mark Robson, David Weisbart and Dalem Wasserman.

She is survived by her sister, Regina Gruss, a veteran MGM Publicist and former governor for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
