Project is the first developed by Armstrong through his newly formed production company American Work. It has a first-look deal with Radar for low to modestly budgeted comedies. Armstrong co-wrote pics including "Old School" and "Starsky & Hutch."
"Jeff the Demon" is the story of two high school losers who find a book that allows them to summon a power from the netherworld. The demon, Jeff, helps them win every battle and right every wrong in their lives, but they quickly discover that having all of their dreams come true can cause problems.
Project was acquired by Armstrong and Radar as a pitch from the first-time scribes.
Armstrong and Radar's Joe Rosenberg and Ted Field are producing.
New Line's Kent Alterman and Cale Boyter, Radar's Davida Heller and American Work's Ravi Nandan oversee the project.
Armstrong first teamed with Radar on "The Heartbreak Kid," a DreamWorks pic starring Jason Bateman and Amy Poehler set to start lensing in June.
Radar co-produced MGM's "The Amityville Horror," due out on Friday, with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes shingle. Company is also producing Sony's "Zathura," directed by Jon Favreau and starring Tim Robbins.
