Hutton set to open up Spanish 'Box'

Chiller pic lensing in Majorca, Madrid

MADRID -- Timothy Hutton will topline "The Kovak Box," an English-lingo chiller directed by Daniel Monzon ("The Heart of the Warrior," "The Greatest Robbery Never Told") and produced by Julio Fernandez for Spain's Filmax Entertainment and Estudios Picasso, the production arm of broadcaster Telecinco.

David Kelly, Lucia Jimenez and Gary Piquer complete the key cast.

Pic began shooting Monday for eight weeks on the Mediterranean island of Majorca, followed by three weeks in Madrid.

Hutton plays a sci-fi writer who is trapped after being lured to an island to host a conference.

"The Kovak Box" is scripted by Monzon and Jorge Guerricaechevarria ("Ferpect Crime").

Filmax produced "Darkness," which Dimension released in the U.S. It is in post on Calista Flockhart starrer "Fragile."
