Crazy like a Fox admirer

Welch cozy relationships spelled out in novel way

Does everyone love Rupe and Rog?

Former General Electric topper Jack Welch sure seems to, singling out News Corp. topper Rupert Murdoch and Fox News Channel chair Roger Ailes in his tome, "Winning."

Welch opines that Fox News was nothing less than "the perfect storm" when it bowed in 1996. Then the head of GE -- the Peacock's parent company -- Welch was very much Fox's competitor.

"In the outside world, both Rupert and Roger made it so you couldn't open a paper or turn on a TV without hearing, in some form, about the relentless advance of Fox," Welch writes.

Ailes and Welch have been friendly since the days when Ailes worked at NBC News and CNBC.

That coziness continues. Rumors are that Welch could make regular appearances on Fox News' proposed financial news net spinoff.

Welch is no stranger to News Corp. either. HarperBusiness, an imprint of News Corp.'s HarperCollins, published "Winning."

Welch co-wrote the book with his third wife, Suzy (Wetlaufer) Wright.
