Paul Weitz is in talks to adapt and direct "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City" for producer Michael Costigan at Sony.
Project is based on Nick Flynn's bestselling memoir about an unconventional relationship between a father and a son. The darkly comic tale unfolds while Flynn, in his 20s, is working as a caseworker at a homeless shelter in Boston.
Costigan is producing through his Sony-based Corduroy Films, along with Weitz and his Depth of Field production shingle.
Paul's brother and Depth of Field partner Chris Weitz and shingle president Andrew Miano are exec producing.
Rachel O'Connor and Matt Tolmach are overseeing for Columbia.
Weitz, who has already begun working on the script, became interested in the project when Costigan brought him Flynn's book.
Weitz wrote, directed and produced Universal's "In Good Company," starring Topher Grace. He also co-directed, with Chris Weitz, U's "About a Boy," based on the Nick Hornby novel.
