The Chorale will perform the work Nov. 6, featuring sopranos Elissa Johnston and Kerry Walsh, tenors Christopher Campbell and Jonathan Mack and bass Hector Vasquez. The other world premiere, "Chanukkah Suite" by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, will be performed Dec. 11 and 13 as part of the holiday program, "rejoice."
The Chorale's season opens Oct. 2 with a performance celebrating the 500th birthday of Thomas Tallis, the father of English church music. Season concludes May 21, 2006, with music director Grant Gershon sharing a range of his personal favorites straight out of his HP iPod.
Chorale, which has recorded Steve Reich's "You Are (Variations)" for release this fall on Nonesuch, will also perform with Latin jazz musicians Dec. 28 and 29; sing works by Meredith Monk, Arvo Part and Michael Torke on March 26 as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's "Minimalism Jukebox" festival; and join with Musica Angelica and percussionist Alex Acuna for a night of Mexican Baroque gems on April 30.
