Green will play the cynical Barry in the project, which revolves around four pals born and bred in New York. David Kohan and Max Mutchnick exec produce the pilot, which comes from Warner Bros. TV.
Green already is exec producing (along with Matthew Senreich), co-directing and co-writing the stop-motion animation sketch series "Robot Chicken" for Comedy Central's Adult Swim programming block. He also voices the character Chris Griffin on Fox's "Family Guy."
Thesp said he wasn't originally planning on joining a pilot this season but was drawn to the moral ambiguity of the character. Green said he also jumped at the chance to work with helmer James Burrows, who's directing the pilot.
"I spent my childhood watching every great show and seeing Jim Burrows' name in the credits," he said.
Green is currently shooting the season finale of "Will & Grace," which is also directed by Burrows.
Green recently wrapped the indie feature "The Better Man." He also was in the features "The Italian Job" and "Without a Paddle" as well as all three "Austin Powers" movies.
