Redbus takes '5' from Cross

Hantas, Seals will produce under Teek Films

HOLLYWOOD -- Shauna Cross has sold her teen comedy script "Taking 5" to U.K. distrib and financing entity Redbus Pictures.

Story concerns two geeky teens who kidnap the world's most famous rock band in an attempt to make them play at their high school and thus boost the girls' popularity.

Kat Hantas and Chesley Seals will produce under their Teek Films shingle.

Redbus is one of the U.K.'s leading distributors, having released films including "Open Water" and "Cabin Fever"; upcoming is Guy Ritchie's "Revolver." It co-produced the indie hit "Bend It Like Beckham."

Cross just closed a two-book deal with Henry Holt based on her partial manuscript "Derby Doll," a teen chick-lit novel set in the world of roller derby. Kirsten Smith, co-writer of "Legally Blonde," is producing the feature film version.
