Newly formed Theta Films is co-financing its first pic with Catfish Prods., the comedy "Blind Guy," starring Chris Pine.
Production is skedded to begin April 26 in Salt Lake City.
Theta is an investment entity recently formed by an international group of real estate entrepreneurs who created a $50 million fund for pics in the $10 million-$20 million range.
"Blind Guy" is about a visually impaired but highly confident young man seeking love and a chance to see. After a series of disastrous dates, he falls for his doctor's young receptionist, a beautiful emigrant from India, but their love is thwarted by cultural differences.
Eddie Kaye Thomas ("American Pie"), Jane Seymour and newcomer Anjali Jay also star.
James Keach is directing, based on an original screenplay by Christopher Theo.
Pic will be produced by Costa Theo, Joy Mellins, Dave Shanks and Keach, with Steve Bickel as exec producer.
Pine is shooting New Regency's "Just My Luck," opposite Lindsay Lohan. He co-starred in Disney's "The Princess Diaries II."
With Cathy Konrad, Keach recently produced the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" for Fox.
