LONDON -- London-based music company the Sanctuary Group is moving into artist management outside the music world via new division Sanctuary Entertainment.
"Sanctuary's expertise in rock is second to none. But there's a lot of business in the entertainment world that is not rock music," said Deke Arlon, who adds the title of Sanctuary Entertainment prexy to his current role as prexy of Sanctuary Music Publishing. "We're looking at every possible genre -- standup comedians, TV writers, directors, musical theater and everything else that is not rock."
In October Sanctuary acquired the Associated Intl. Management theatrical agency in London -- which represents thesps including Brian Blessed, Angie Dickinson, Marti Pellow and Nadia Sawalha -- and it's now looking for a U.S. partner.
It already has offices in Los Angeles and New York.
