Pilots spy familiar faces

Byrd, Scott added to untitled projects

TV vets Gregory Harrison and Robert Culp are making another run at series TV, landing pilot gigs in the latest round of castings.

Harrison has joined the cast of CBS' Susie Essman pilot, while Culp is on board NBC's "Early Bird."

Also, Eugene Byrd ("Crossing Jordan") has been added to ABC's untitled Holly Hester Project, while Reid Scott ("It's All Relative") has joined the cast of CBS' untitled Marsh McCall project.

Essman project, from 20th Century Fox TV, Paramount and Watson Pond, revolves around the actress's new life as a soccer mom.

Harrison starred last season in ABC's Jessica Simpson pilot; he also starred in the telepic "First Shot" and guested on "Strong Medicine." He's still known for his long-running turns on "Trapper John, M.D." and "Falcon Crest."

'Bird' basics

As for Culp, "Early Bird" follows the exploits of a young guy who winds up moving into a retirement home. NBC Universal TV and 3 Arts produce.

The "I Spy" and "Greatest American Hero" star more recently guested on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "The Dead Zone."

As for Byrd, thesp will star opposite Brenda Blethyn, playing Jake, the owner of a Web design firm. Touchstone, NBC Universal TV Studios and Conaco produce.

Byrd's credits also include "8 Mile" and "Anacondas."

On Scott, Marsh McCall project comes from Warner Bros. TV and Bruckheimer TV. Scott was also seen in "American Dreams."

And David Starzyk ("A Boyfriend for Christmas") will play Thom in CBS' "American Crime," from Warner Bros. TV and Bruckheimer.
