Patric
Jason Patric is set to star in "Walker," a drama co-written and to be directed by Matt Williams. Pic is being financed by Persistent Entertainment partners Matthew Rhodes and Judd Payne.
Williams, best known for creating the sitcoms "Home Improvement" and "Roseanne," will produce with Rhodes and Payne through his Wind Dancer Production Group. Pic will shoot in May.
The drama, which Williams co-wrote with Alex Paraskevas, is set in 1957. Patric will play a charming seducer and underachiever in a small town who is forced to make heartbreaking decisions to save his two daughters.
Pic is one of three features Williams has written and hopes to direct. Aside from his TV successes, he has written plays and directed the Natalie Portman starrer "Where the Heart Is."
Williams decided several years ago to pare down Wind Dancer, which had grown into a production and management company, so that he could concentrate on film.
"Instead of managing the passions of others, I stripped the company to its bare minimum for the purpose of my writing and directing projects," Williams said.
Williams might eventually do another TV series, but said he first intends to mine darker drama.
He said Patric fit his protagonist perfectly.
