AIDS film hits Bollywood

Suri stars as ostracized swimmer

Bollywood is making another attempt to bring the issue of HIV-AIDS in India into mainstream cinema with the movie "My Brother Nikhil."

Pic, which opened this weekend, follows an earlier film that was largely ignored by auds.

Pic stars Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Suri, who plays a popular swimmer who becomes isolated once word gets out that he has contracted HIV-AIDS.

Last year Bollywood released "Phir milenge" (We Will Meet Again) but even the presence of superstar Salman Khan, better known for his tough guy roles, was not enough to attract auds. On the other hand Khan's image has taken a battering in recent years following a fatal DUI incident and reports that he abused former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai.
