Sagansky takes media gig

Exec joins forces with Star, National Enquirer

NEW YORK -- Former Paxson Communications topper Jeff Sagansky is joining the board of American Media, publisher of Star magazine and the National Enquirer.

Sagansky, a longtime film and TV exec, was co-president of Sony Pictures Entertainment, prexy of CBS Entertainment and president of TriStar Pictures.

American Media, which also owns Shape, Men's Fitness, Muscle & Fitness and Mira!, is looking for TV and film tie-ins for its magazine properties, and CEO David Pecker has said the company could file for a public offering later this year.

"Jeff has a unique insight into how to connect with mass audiences," Pecker said.

In addition to the magazines, AMI owns Distribution Services, the largest magazine distributor in the U.S.
