Helfrich
New Line has tapped vet editor Mark Helfrich to make his helming debut on comedy "Good Luck, Chuck."
Helfrich has edited numerous films for Brett Ratner at New Line, including both "Rush Hour" movies and "After the Sunset." He has also done second unit direction for several pics.
Scribe Josh Stolberg sold project as a spec to New Line in 2003, based on the true story of a man who had a string of girlfriends who all married the next man they dated after him.
Helfrich is working with Stolberg, who recently finished directing indie pic "Kids in America," on a shooting draft that insiders hope to put into production by the summer.
Helfrich has good relationships at New Line and has been searching for a while to attach himself to the right studio project for his helming debut.
Mike Karz, who brought the spec to the mini-major, is producing. Tracy Edmonds is exec producing along with Karz Entertainment exec Russell Hollander.
Mark Kaufman, Matt Moore and Luke Ryan are overseeing for the studio.
