Jackman will star with Jason Isaacs and Romola Garai. John Wrathall wrote the script and Lone Scherfig ("Italian for Beginners") will direct.
Pic will be produced by Miriam Segal and John Palermo; latter is Jackman's producing partner. Segal, CEO of Tailor-Made Films, got rights to "Good" from the estate of the late playwright.
Financing was arranged for a summer shoot in Potsdam and Berlin through Axiom Films and London-based sales agent Celluloid Dreams.
Jackman will play a professor who has been seduced by Germany's national pride and renaissance during the early 1930s as well as a flirtation with a student (Garai). Isaacs plays his Jewish friend.
"The film is not about a hero but an everyman who got caught up in the fervor of nationalism, like 18 million others in Germany did," Segal said.
Palermo, who with Jackman signed a Disney deal to develop musical vehicles for the "Boy From Oz" star (Daily Variety, Jan. 10), said Jackman saw the play when it opened two years ago and it stuck with him enough to want to make the film their first producing credit.
Thesp, who just finished the Darren Aronofsky-directed "The Fountain," is prepping one-man touring show "Hugh Jackman: In Time," which premieres April 30 at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. He'll then star in "Good" and then is expected to reprise his Wolverine role in "X-Men 3."
