New Line has tapped young thesps Ryan Merriman and Mary Winstead to star in "Cheating Death: Final Destination 3," which it is targeting for 2006 release.

Sequel brings together original pic's creators James Wong and Glen Morgan.

Thesps can both be seen in "The Ring Two." Merriman was also in indie pic "Spin" and Sci Fi Channel mini "The Taken." Winstead is also in upcoming Disney pic "Sky High."

Pic starts shooting April 4 in Vancouver and is expected to have a budget around $25 million.

First "Final Destination" made $112 million in worldwide B.O., while the second brought in $89 million.

Like the previous two pics in the franchise, "Final Destination 3" follows a cast of young thesps trying to cheat death. Winstead plays a high school senior who has a premonition of a fatal amusement park accident at the beginning of the pic and then tries to help her surviving friends avoid death's designs.

Wong is directing off a script he wrote with Morgan. Duo is producing with Warren Zide and Craig Perry.

Richard Brener and Matt Moore are overseeing for New Line.
