Whedon
Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have found their man for "Wonder Woman," tapping "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon to write and direct.
Joel Silver and Leonard Goldberg will produce the live-action feature, based on the DC Comics character created by William Moulton Marston. No start date has been set.
Whedon created and exec produced "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which ran for seven seasons on the WB and UPN, based on his screenplay for the 1992 feature film of the same name.
He also created and exec produced the spinoff series "Angel" and penned screenplays for "Toy Story" and "Alien: Resurrection."
He's completing post-production on "Serenity," which he wrote and directed based on his small-screen series "Firefly."
Silver produced "The Matrix" trilogy for Warner Bros. He and Robert Zemeckis are producing "The Reaping" for Warner Bros. through their Dark Castle banner and recently signed Hilary Swank to topline.
Goldberg and Silver have been developing "Wonder Woman" for many years, with Sandra Bullock eyed at one point in 2001 to wear the star-spangled spandex.
TV series "Wonder Woman" starred former Miss USA Lynda Carter and ran for three seasons starting in 1975.
