New Line has tapped Shekhar Kapur to helm Bruce Willis starrer "Solace."

Kapur, known for steering British historical epics such as "Elizabeth" and "The Four Feathers," starts production on the crime drama in July.

Deal for Willis to topline the pic was also signed this week (Daily Variety, March 14). He'll play a doctor with psychic powers who helps police catch a serial killer with similar abilities.

Studio bought the script in a seven-figure deal four years ago from scribes Ted Griffin and Sean Bailey. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing through their New Line-based Contrafilm shingle along with Matthias Emcke. Bailey and Thomas Augsberger exec produce with Chris Moore and Arnold Rifkin.

Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener will oversee the project for the studio.
