Jason may rise yet again, this time with Quentin Tarantino doing the resurrecting.
After the success of 2003's "Jason vs. Freddy" -- which unexpectedly slashed its way to a $82 million domestic gross -- New Line is considering yet another sequel in the 25-year-old "Friday the 13th" franchise.
But rather than do more low-budget schlock, minimajor may go higher-class this time. Studio has sent feelers to Tarantino about helming "The Ultimate Jason Vorhees Movie," and the filmmaker is interested enough to take an initial meeting.
Oscar-winning scribe of "Pulp Fiction" has been asked to consider writing a "Jason" script, too.
Tarantino's reps at William Morris confirmed that a meeting with New Line is on the books, but also cautioned that -- breathless Internet gossip notwithstanding -- he frequently takes off months, if not years, between projects.
