HOLLYWOOD -- First Independent Pictures has acquired North American rights to "Edmond," written by David Mamet. Pic stars William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Denise Richards, Mena Suvari, Dylan Walsh, Joe Mantegna and Rebecca Pidgeon.
Wild Bunch acquired international rights on the title, which recently wrapped production under the direction of Stuart Gordon. Tartan Films has purchased rights for the U.K. and Ireland.
"Edmond" is the dark tale of man who tries to come to terms with a dull and meaningless life, only to descend from respectability into a dark world of murder and prison.
"Edmond" was produced by Muse Prods.' Chris Hanley and Molly Hassell, Gordon, Pretty Dangerous Films' Kevin Ragsdale, Duffy Hecht, Roger Kass and Mary McCann.
Executive producers are Tricia van Klaveren, Gary Rubin, Steven Hays, Felix and Katherin Werner, Hamish McAlpine, Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso.
First Independent Pictures' first theatrical release, "Mail Order Wife," bows March 11.
