Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the rights to Michael Krieger's "All the Men in the Sea: The Untold Story of One of the Greatest Rescues in History" in a mid-six-figure deal.
Screenwriter Tony Gayton ("The Salton Sea," "Murder by Numbers") was hired in a separate mid-six deal to adapt the book, and helmer John Moore ("Flight of the Phoenix") is attached to direct, a studio spokeswoman confirmed.
Nonfiction tome tells the story of the divers and seamen of Barge 269, a cargo ship caught in the path of Hurricane Roxanne's 90-mph winds and 45-foot waves in 1995. Krieger's book also details the lawsuit brought by the company that owned the barge.
Deal was packaged by APA, which represents both Gayton and Krieger.
