Disney has purchased "Nutjobs," a comedy pitch to be developed as a directing vehicle for Adam Shankman.
In the murder mystery scripted by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, a sufferer of obsessive compulsive disorder teams with a compulsive liar in an attempt to prove their therapist's supposed suicide was murder.
Shankman will produce "Nutjobs" with Jennifer Gibgot via their Disney-based production shingle Offspring Entertainment. Offspring veep Matthew Mizel will be co-producer; Danny Sherman will exec produce. Disney execs Jill Morris and Josh Simon will oversee development.
Cohen and Freedland have been busy with small-screen projects. The duo co-created with Robert Evans the Comedy Central series "Kid Notorious" and are working on the series "Hidden Howie" for Bravo and "20 Things to Do Before You're 30" for UPN.
On the feature side, Cohen and Freedland are completing a rewrite of "The Retreat" at New Line.
Shankman is prepping a "Topper" redo and his Vin Diesel comedy "The Pacifier" opens Friday.
