The 56th annual Christopher Awards, given to films and television programs that "affirm the highest value of the human spirit," will be awarded to a number of Oscar nominees at a March 10 ceremony at the Time and Life Building.
"Finding Neverland," "Hotel Rwanda" and "The Incredibles," as well as patriotic hockey pic "Miracle," will be feted. HBO's "Something the Lord Made," HBO Family's "Happy to Be Nappy and Other Stories of Me," A&E's "The Brooke Ellison Story," PBS' "Independent Lens: The New Americans" and "ABC News Primetime Thursday: A Survivor's Story" are the five television honorees.
A special award will be presented to CBS news program "Face the Nation." Past special honorees include "MASH" and "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."
Dr. Robert Coles, hockey hall-of-famer Pat LaFontaine and Sargent Shriver, former director of the Peace Corps, will receive special awards for their public service.
The Christophers were founded as a nonprofit in 1945 by priest James Keller and first awarded in 1949.
