Arclight enters 'Forest'

Hindi-lingo pic shines under Darclight

Arclight Films has teamed with Dreyfuss/James Prods. to produce "The Forest," the feature-directing bow of Ashvin Kumar.

Hindi-language thriller concerns a young married couple who go on vacation in hopes of forestalling divorce but are so preoccupied by their anger that they ignore signs of a man-eating leopard. Indian star Irfan Khan has been set for the lead.

Kumar, who also penned the script, will produce with Judith James. Gary Hamilton will rep the pic under Arclight's genre banner, Darclight Films. He will also serve as executive producer on the film, which is slated to begin production in May in Thailand and India.

James is partnered with Richard Dreyfuss at Dreyfuss/James. She exec produced "Quiz Show" and produced "Mr. Holland's Opus."

Kumar's "The Terrorist" has been Oscar-nominated for short film. Kumar also helmed the hourlong "Road to Ladakh," which he is working to develop as a feature with James and the U.K. Film Council.
