Meanwhile, on the pilot beat, NBC has tapped "Da Ali G Show" exec producer Dan Mazer to create a sketch laffer in the vein of the HBO show, while UPN has greenlit a pair of sitcoms from Touchstone, including one from Courteney Cox Arquette.
Cox Arquette and husband David Arquette are behind the UPN pilot "Friends in the A.M.," along with writer-exec producer Allison Gibson ("Reba").
Sitcom revolves around three women who co-host a morning talkshow.
Also from Touchstone for UPN, "20 Things to Do Before You're 30" is based on the U.K. skein of the same name, about four twentysomethings who attempt to experience life before they get too old.
Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland ("King of the Hill") will write and exec produce.
Over at the Peacock, the Mazer project will mix actors (as newscasters) and real-life people, in the vein of "Ali G." Matt Walsh ("Old School"), Andrea Savage ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin"), A.D. Miles ("Wet Hot American Summer") and Zach Galifianakis ("Late World With Zach") are attached to star.
As for Dutton, thesp -- whose biggest TV series role was in the 1990s Fox laffer "Roc" -- is the first major thesp cast in "Threshold," which revolves around a female government agent who leads a team of military and scientific officers to respond to an alien threat (Daily Variety, Sept. 14).
Paramount Network TV is producing.
In addition to last year's critically hailed HBO pic "Something the Lord Made," Dutton has appeared in a slew of recent features, including "Secret Window," "Gothika" and "Against the Ropes." Thesp helmed the latter pic, which starred Meg Ryan as boxing promoter Jackie Kallen.
Leigh returns to Fox to play Carla, a good girl whose life is transformed over the show's 20 years, on "Reunion." Leigh's other credits include "The Practice" and "That '80s Show."
"Reunion" comes from exec producers Jon Harmon Feldman, Steve Pearlman and Andrew Plotkin; Warner Bros. TV and Class IV Prods. are behind the show.
