"Jane Pauley" hit a series-high national rating of 1.8 during the week of Jan. 17-23, up a tenth from the previous week, aiding its bid for renewal.
Among other rookies tying their series highs were "Tony Danza," up 25% to a 1.5, and "Ambush Makeover," up 30% to 1.3. "Larry Elder" was up a tenth to 1.1, while "Pat Croce" was down a tenth to 0.6. Unchanged were "The Insider" (2.8) and "Life & Style" (0.5).
Aside from "Pauley," the only other firstrun strips to hit new season highs were "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and "Judge Joe Brown," each of which was up 8% to 4.0.
Daytime shows benefited from viewers staying home on the Martin Luther King holiday, as five of the top six yakkers and five of the seven gavelers saw increases.
Some Thursday segs were broken out as a result of the nets' coverage of the presidential inauguration.
