Robert Zemeckis is developing the latest draft of Jonathan Franzen's National Book Award-winning "The Corrections" with an eye toward directing the film.
"The Hours" scribe David Hare is writing a draft for Paramount and producer Scott Rudin. Franzen's novel revolves around the Christmas convergence of three generations of a highly dysfunctional Midwestern family. They meet at the family home for what will be the last holiday gathering there.
While that project continues development, Zemeckis recently aligned to direct "Beowulf," a take on the classic tale that the helmer intends to make with the same motion-capture technology he used on "The Polar Express."
"Beowulf," scripted by Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman, will be financed by Steve Bing's Shangri-La and Sony.
