Churches get 'Divine' intervention

Makeover skein gets religion

TORONTO -- Canada's Vision TV Intl. has begun lensing a makeover series with a holy twist.

Instead of turning their talents to beautifying ugly ducklings, the folks at "Divine Restoration" are applying their makeover skills to run-down community churches across Canada and the U.S.

"The program brings the rousing vibe of an old-fashioned barn-raising to a series of 48-hour renovation projects designed to enhance the lives of the congregations, and showcases the unique story of each community," says a release from Vision TV Intl.

Vision TV Intl. is a joint venture of Canuck multifaith and multicultural network Vision TV and Toronto-based producer Ellis Entertainment. Jim Codrington and Catherine Burdon will host the series.

The 26 half-hours are being produced for TV One, a new lifestyle and entertainment network for African-Americans, and Vision TV. Series is expected to hit the tube in the spring.

Vision TV Intl. holds international distribution and format rights.
