Gold Circle Films, which recently scored at the B.O. with "White Noise," has bought horror-thriller spec "Forsaken" from the scripting duo of Ari Margolis and Jim Morley III for low- against mid-six figures.
Gold Circle prexy Paul Brooks will produce the project, centered on a group of misfits who take refuge in a secluded cabin during a snowstorm and begin telling ghost stories to pass the time. To their horror, they discover that the monsters from the stories are real and have the cabin surrounded.
Gold Circle, which financed and produced "White Noise," also produced romantic comedy "The Wedding Date," due out Feb. 4 from Universal. Shingle's also developing "Slither," "Whisper" and "Because I Said So."
Margolis and Morley also teamed on the comedy-horror spec "Suck," which sold to Artisan; story centers on a Seattle vampire who must fight off ghouls, rescue a damsel in distress and pay the rent. The duo also wrote and directed "Black Days," an official selection at the 2001 Slamdance Film Festival.
